What makes Guard911 unique?
The Guard911 emergency panic button app utilizes the extensive Hero 911 network of over 67,000 law enforcement officers. These officers are notified immediately via their Hero911app in the case of a life threatening emergency that occurs in the area in which they are located. They can be available at the scene within seconds, even if they are not on duty at the time.
Join us to meet the heroes of Hero911.
Tim Guy: Hero911 network responder
Tim Guy is active as part of the Hero911 network and the Guard911 team. He has extensive experience in law enforcement and loves to be involved with local schools. As a parent, he saw the need for better safety and engagement in the schools where his kids attended. As a law enforcement officer, he has had a front row seat to learn about the real effectiveness of the Hero911 network.
Tim got his start as a military police officer in the Air Force Military Police for four years serving on the 1987 Alaskan Air Command Peacekeeper Challenge Team. Following that, he began a long career as a police officer for 31 years with the Washington Police Department in Indiana. He worked his way up through the ranks as patrolman, sergeant, captain, and then chief of police. For over 21 years he served as a supervisor. He was Emergency Response Team leader and for 20 years served as a Operator/Team Leader on high risk Tactical Operations involving search warrants and arrest warrants.
Better Safety Response Time for Schools
During Tim’s service with the Washington Police Department he was actively involved in making security and safety a priority with the local school system. He knew he wanted something better for his community. When he learned about the SchoolGuard app from Guard911, he helped get it into his local school district.
Just Seconds to Respond to a School Emergency
As a member of the Hero911 network, Tim Guy knows from his own experience how effective the SchoolGuard app and the Hero911 network can be.
Several years ago, Tim was on patrol in his car when he got a notification on the Hero911 app on his cell phone. He was five blocks away from the local elementary school where the emergency was taking place. He was traveling the opposite direction of the school.. He immediately turned around to go straight to the school.
Tim was at the school within 30 seconds along with two others law enforcement officers, one who was on duty and one who was off duty. All three were in the school in less than one minute. As they began to assess the situation, more officers began arriving, thanks to the Hero911 network. Within three minutes, there were 14 law enforcement officers in the school, including local road officers, five off-duty officers, and a neighboring county deputy. That deputy happened to be in the area, and, because he was a member of the Hero911 network, he had the app on his phone and was notified immediately.
Within three minutes, there were 14 law enforcement officers in the school, including local road officers, five off-duty officers, and a neighboring county deputy.
Tim was surprised and delighted to see this significant immediate response. Fortunately, in this situation there were no injuries and the alert was determined to not be a true emergency. Had there been a life threatening emergency, there were 14 law enforcement officers on hand literally within three minutes. According to Tim, “This kind of immediate response within thirty seconds is impossible with anything other than Guard911.”.
